I've had the great pleasure "meeting" several wonderful people online in the last several weeks because of my new vintage Brother machine. I've had the opportunity to oogle several different "brothers" to my machine, which are identical except for being an awesome blue colour instead of a lovely pink like mine.
One thing I found when searching out information online, is that many people who manage to acquire one of these great machines aren't lucky enough to also acquire the manual. I love to see a great vintage machine being used and loved, and it's easier to do so when you have the manual! So I'm happy to provide a copy of this one. Feel free to download it, save it, print it... just please don't offer it up for sale. Special thanks to Kim from The Sassy Crafter, for providing me with the 2 pages my manual was missing and allowing me to add them to the document.
If you download the manual, I'd love to see your machine! Leave me a comment with a link!
Download the manual here!
Thank you so much for the manual. I have just fixed this machine for a friend of mine but she didn't have a manual so I printed one out for her. I would like to show you a picture of the machine but I am not sure exactly how to do it. I will do so once I got that figured out! Cheers! Al
ReplyDeleteHey Al! I'm so glad you now have a manual for your machine. If you want to share your photo, there are quite a few great free photo sharing sites out there (I use Photobucket, and Flickr is very popular) that give you a direct link you can add to comments, etc.
ReplyDeletethanks to you Angie I have fixed the tension on my machine after using your shared manual link! Here are some fun pics my photogrpaher friend took of my machine and I for fun a while back

I love the colour of this machine, it is just fabulous!
Thank you very much! My parents found this model in the trash and gave it to me. It is remarkable shape but I was afraid to use it until I had a manual. I am really excited to try it out now.
ReplyDeleteHi David! I'm so glad! Have you had a chance to run your new machine yet? I hope it's sewing like a dream!
DeleteThank you so much! I've been looking all over for a free copy of the manual. Mine is missing the belt, any idea what length I should purchase for it? Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteyou are the only free copy of the manual for this machine i could find thank you so much my wife and I bought ours for $5 and we love vintage machines. Ours also came with the attachments case you said yours came with an attachment manual would you possibly be able to post a pdf of it as well. Thanks -Mark
ReplyDeleteAngie, thank you so much for the manual. My mother bought this machine when I was a kid and taught us how to sew on it but she always did her own maintenance so I never had to learn to maintain or adjust. After she died, I got the machine but didn't think to look for the manual.
ReplyDeleteAgain, thank you.
Hi Angie, I just bought my little machine today. It is beautiful! A brilliant blue with cream! It is very basic and that is what I was looking for. I bought it so I could teach my 7 yr. old granddaughter how to sew. If she shows an interest in it then I will possibly part with it and give it to her! Anyway I am very excited!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this great blog! I also inherited my machine from mother. Have had it for 20 years or so and finally decided it was time to learn how to adjust tension and stuff! LOL! I sure do appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this! I got my sewing machine from an old neighbor that passed away a few years ago and was excited to learn how to sew. Unfortunately the manual was missing. Now my future mother-in-law gets to teach me and is insanely jealous of this beautiful machine.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a very interesting blog. What else may I get that kind of info written in such a perfect approach? I’ve a undertaking that I am simply now operating on, and I have been at the look out for such info.

Thank you so much for the Manual, I have been searching the web with no results except yours, so happy to finally have it, I couldn't figure out how to load the bobbins correctly. Thank You Thank You
ReplyDeleteI found this sewing machine at an estate sale in excellent condition. It's great to have the manual! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this Manual. I have been looking for it. I was a sewing machine mechanical technician several years ago. My daughter bought a Brother Super Streamliner 220 and we have been looking for a manual ever since. You are a GOD sent.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the manual! Yesterday I bought a model 220 super streamliner in a cabinet at auction for $10! The owner said she had loaned it out and when she got it back it didn't work so it was sold "as is" since the balance wheel wouldn't turn. I brought it home, oiled it and the hand wheel now turns and it sews great. This appears to be a later model of the super streamliner. The instructions for cleaning the bobbin area don't apply for this model. Unlike my other vintage machines the retaining ring doesn't come loose when you turn the knobs. It appears to be built in so I can't remove it to get to the hook and race assembly to clean them. Any input would be appreciated. I love my "lilac" colored machine.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting this manual! My Grandma just gave me her Brother Model 220, but she no longer had the manual. I have no idea how to use my new vintage pink and gray machine; and she said she no longer remembers the details. It is a relief to have the manual!
ReplyDeleteThank you also!!! I just got a beautiful teal blue one today..this manual was very helpful, 😊
ReplyDeleteI so needed this manual, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you for the manual! I just purchased this yesterday and it didn't have it with it. My picture of it is on my instagram account www.instagram.com/jessica_tualla_creates
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm wondering if you are still active on this page because I've LOVE the manual for the Super Streamliner 220. I'm struggling with the bobbin. The link above didn't work. Could you possibly email it? Thank you SO much!
